I just received another batch of printed phone books, both at home and at my office. Guess where they went.. straight to the recycle bin. What a waste!
This year alone, 540 million printed directories were delivered. That’s more than one per person. Why? Don’t most of us look things up online?
If you want one, fine. For those who don’t, let your request be known.

I unsubscribed from my local phone book and never looked back. Another option I found is to call your phone book provider and ask them to remove your address (home and office) from the printed book mailing list. Here are the phone numbers I found:

Excellent topic. It kills me to get phone books. They’re a tremendous waste for folks like members in my family. We operate a paperless business, read the New York Times online, and have most of our vendors send us invoices in PDF form via email. Unsubscribing from the various phone book mail lists will be another thing we will be eager to do so we can do our little part for the environment.
