Sleep Box

Our life is limited only by our own imagination and ideas. Never stop thinking outside the box!

  1. Very cool for long layovers between flights.

  2. It often would be nice to have a place to take a nap. Must be cheaper than a hotel, right? Have you ever seen one?

  3. I have never seen one but I imagine some enterprising individual will start installing them in major international terminals. You often have long layovers on international flights. It would be nice to rest up in one of the sleep boxes shown, especially for people like me that fly tourist class.

  4. In Singapore Airport there are sleep areas where it is dark and quiet and there are several lounges. I’ve used those on long layovers (being stuck in Singapore for double-digit hours to/from Australia is easy) to sleep I’ve also taken advantage of Singapore Airport’s hotel which has rooms that aren’t much bigger than these sleep rooms. This sleep room looks like a combination of the two and probably has a niche market in international hub airports.

I’ve believe there is a similar but slightly bigger version of this sleep room targetting business people in Japan. It includes a small bathroom and is used for people who are stuck in the city overnight but don’t want to pay the price of a full hotel.

  5. Thank you so much from our favorite international traveler!

  6. I would use one of these sleep boxes in a heartbeat. I’ve slept in many airports – sometimes on the floor, across chairs and, like Laura mentioned, in sleeping rooms. The sleeping rooms are helpful but usually not very private. I would pay for one of these boxes even for 30 minutes of privacy just to work on the computer or recharge my brain. If I could lie flat on a semi-comfortable surface it would be like heaven in an airport. I’m pretty sure the boxes would completely fill up and have a waiting list when you were in the terminal – you’d probably have to reserve one in advance.

  7. Fantastic. I thought the world travelers would have a strong opinion. Those of us who do 95% of our traveling domestically don’t understand the need for these since we’ve never experienced 12 hour layovers in foreign countries! Wish I could buy a franchise!
