  1. Hi Elizabeth:
I believe that is more a state and/or neighborhood regulation, rather than federal. You should be fine going door to door unless the house or neighborhood have up “No Solicitation” signs, which many now post.

    Thanks for asking!

  2. Is it ok by the Federal Government to go up and knock on the door, hand the resident a flier, or leave it on the floor of the porch if no one is home? Is that tresspassing?

  3. Hi Toba:

Putting your brochures on mailboxes is definitely a federal offense.

Best way, of course, is to mail the brochures. That’s the point of a mailbox. Or, if you have a local company who delivers things like pizza coupons, rug cleaning coupons, etc, contact them to be added to their distribution in your area.

We have a local company that mails coupons. You could get in with something like that. You could buy space on pizza box lids that are delivered to your area. You can be put into newspaper inserts in your area or post ads in neighborhood newsletters. There are TONS of ways to market to specific homes.

Please, let us know what you decide to do and Thanks for Asking!

  4. What is an alternative to putting my Avon Brochures on Mailboxes? Please don’t suggest putting them on their front door. Dear that is trespassing. I have done it and would rather commit a local then a federal offense. So, what is your plan “B” I am trying to make a little household income.

    Thank you.
